EVALUATION EXPERIENCE IN UNITED TERRITORIAL COMMUNITIES DISCUSSED IN KYIV

‘Use of Evaluation Processes for Efficient Management of United Communities’ conference took place On Monday 20th November in Kyiv, organized by the Democratic Society East (DSE) (Warsaw, Poland) and the East Ukrainian Centre for Civic Initiatives (Kyiv, Ukraine). Nearly 50 people from united territorial communities in the East of Ukraine participated in the conference. Some of the participants also took part in the ‘Use of Evaluation Processes for Efficient Management of United Communities’ project.


During the conference experts from Poland and from Ukraine delivered a number of presentations on evaluation. The participants talked about the importance of evaluation as an efficient tool in managing united communities in Poland and Ukraine as well as discussed future prospective in Ukraine.


“I am delighted to be a part of the ‘Use of Evaluation Processes for Efficient Management of United Communities’. The conference in Kyiv is the final event of the project. I feel that have expanded my knowledge on evaluation. The example with Poland and gaining experience from their trainers inspires to apply evaluation techniques in our local UTC in Merefyansk. Exchanging information and socialising with my peers makes me feel that I am contributing to the development of Ukraine,” – said Olena Beryozkina, the Head of Civic Organisation ‘People of Slobozhany for Better Life’.


The participants of ‘Use of Evaluation Processes for Efficient Management of United Communities’ project presented the outcomes of their evaluation work during their one-week learning trip to Poland. Members of the Ukrainian Evaluation Association presented the results of their work afterwards.


“Project evaluation and evaluation of local government administration programmes is an important part of reforms aimed at improving working practice of the local government administration. The project we are about to complete is our contribution towards the reforms processes. I am delighted that thanks to this project our communities’ performance and accountability increases,” – said Volodymyr Shcherbachenko, the Head of Eastern-Ukrainian Centre for Civic Initiatives.

‘Use of Evaluation Processes for Efficient Management of United Communities’ project is jointly implemented by the East Ukrainian Centre for Civil Initiatives and the Democratic Society East (DSE), funded by ‘Democracy Support’ programme within the framework of cooperation initiative for development of the Foreign Office in the Republic of Poland in 2017.
